the Civil War, international trade, industrial revolution, the age of technology.
All this seen on a pleasant walk around the streets of Lancaster.

Slave Traders Trail
Lancaster had the largest slave trading community outside London, Liverpool and Bristol in the 1700's. In this bicentenery year of its Abolition, come on this tour to find out more about the slave traders and how they operated the African trade from Lancaster.

The Pendle
Witches Tour
In 1612, the second largest
execution for witchcraft in England took place at Lancaster. An event which
has spawned Countless books and theories ever since. Who were the Pendle Witches
and how did they come to meet there terrible fate 400 years ago. Find out
on this tour through the ancient streets of Lancaster.

Lord Ashton's Lancaster
James Williamson, Lord Ashton (1842 - 1930) created in Lancaster what was
claimed to be at the time the largest linoleum making business in the world
at the end of the nineteenth century . He gave generously to the City in
many ways, including the financing of the Aston Memorial, the Town Hall and
the Statue of Queen Victoria. This walk brings to life the Lancaster of Lord
Ashton, and that of his business competitors, the Storey Brothers, whose
name is commemorated in the 'Storey Institute'.
